Wilderness Visions (https://wildernessvisions.com) is an audio fiction publication of the Hometown Publications Network, operated by Content Spots, a marketing, advertising, and digital solutions company based in Wisconsin, USA. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit, listen, subscribe, or comment, and how we use it.
In this policy, “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to Wilderness Visions, the Hometown Publications Network, and Content Spots as its operator.
Who we are
Wilderness Visions publishes original serialized audio fiction, audiobooks, and related stories. Our stories and production are created with Presswork Pipeline, the in-house content system Content Spots uses across the Hometown Publications Network, including AI-assisted writing support and narration tools. Presswork Pipeline is used to produce content; it is not used to profile visitors or sell personal information.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Email subscriptions: When you sign up for new-episode or new-release alerts, we collect your email address and, if provided, your name.
- Comments: When you leave a comment, we collect the name, email address, and website you enter, along with your IP address and browser user agent string to help detect spam.
- Contact messages: If you email us or use a contact form, we keep what you send so we can reply.
Information collected automatically
- Usage data: Like most websites, our servers log basic technical information such as IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, and referring site.
- Listening data: Our audio player may record general playback statistics (for example, how many times an episode is played) so we know which stories people enjoy. This is not used to identify you personally.

Email alerts
Our email list is managed on a mailing platform operated by Content Spots rather than a third-party marketing company. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time. We use your email address only for Wilderness Visions and Hometown Publications Network updates you agreed to receive.
Comments
An anonymized string created from your email address (called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to check whether you use it. The Gravatar privacy policy is available at https://automattic.com/privacy/. After your comment is approved, your profile picture is visible to the public next to your comment. Comments may also be checked by an automated spam detection service.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored in your browser. We use them for:
- Comment convenience: If you choose to save your name, email, and website when commenting, cookies remember them for one year.
- Site function: Temporary cookies may remember settings such as audio player volume or your place in a page.
- Login (site staff only): Logging in sets cookies that last two days, or two weeks if “Remember Me” is selected. Screen option cookies last one year.
- Measurement and advertising: Our ad and sponsor delivery system and any analytics tools may use cookies to count views and limit how often you see the same message.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some features may not work properly without them.
Advertising and sponsorships
Wilderness Visions is supported by sponsors and advertisers. Ads and sponsor messages on the Hometown Publications Network are served through ad technology operated by Content Spots. Sponsors may also be mentioned within stories themselves. We do not share your email address or other personal information with sponsors or advertisers.
Embedded content and listening platforms
Some pages may include embedded content such as audio players, videos, or links from other services, including podcast platforms like Spotify and Apple Podcasts. Embedded content behaves as if you had visited the other website directly. Those services may collect data about you, use cookies, and track your interaction with the embedded content, especially if you have an account with them and are logged in. Their own privacy policies apply.
Who we share your data with
We share information only when needed to run the site, such as with our hosting provider, or when required by law. If you request a password reset, your IP address is included in the reset email. We do not rent, trade, or sell personal information to anyone.
How long we keep your data
- Email subscribers: Until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your information.
- Comments: Comments and their details are kept indefinitely so follow-up comments can be approved automatically.
- Registered users (if any): Profile information is kept until the account is deleted. Users can see, edit, or delete their information at any time, except their username.
- Server logs: Kept for a limited time for security and troubleshooting.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- Send you a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Correct information that is wrong
- Delete your personal information
- Stop sending you emails
This does not include information we must keep for administrative, legal, or security reasons. Depending on where you live, such as California or the European Union, you may have additional rights under local law, and we will honor them.
Children’s privacy
Wilderness Visions is intended for general and adult audiences, and some stories include mature themes such as suspense and survival situations. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including secure hosting and encrypted connections (HTTPS). No website can guarantee complete security, but we work to keep your information safe.
Media uploads
If you upload images to the site, avoid including embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors can download images and extract that data.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site grows. Changes are posted on this page with a new effective date.
